This lovely heart themed quilt was made from Kay’s scraps. Her granddaughter Sophia helped by selecting her preferred fabrics. Sophia also chose the backing, a pink-toned Japanese fabric from Lecien Textiles. Sophia chose Warm and Plush as the batting because she wanted a snuggly quilt.
The quilting design is called Rambling Hearts, a pattern from Australian designer, Keryn Emmerson. The thread is a deep pink tri-lobal polyester that gives a nice sheen to the quilting. Sophia is going to love this cuddly lap quilt!
This scrappy nine patch is another small quilt made by Ruth for one of her grandchildren. The quilting design is Leaf Pile by Keryn Emmerson, an Australian designer. The allover pattern is a great choice for this quilt. The thread is a gold poly that gives definition to the pattern without competing with the scrappy nature of the quilt.
The pastel nine patch was made by Ruth, using up scraps she has collected over many decades of sewing. For quilting, we chose an all-over pattern called Petunia by Nancy Giessler. The thread is a light blue poly both on top and in the bobbin. The backing is a large flora chintz in colours that coordinate with the top.
Ruth plans to give the quilt to one of her grandchildren.
On and Off the frame today – Evelyne’s scrappy blue quilt was quilted with Keryn Emmerson’s Bramble Panto with a pale blue So Fine thread.
