Jeannette made this quilt for the wedding of a good friend and coworker. The pattern is called Beach Glass. Jeanette saw an almost identical quilt that I had quilted for a customer last summer and decided she wanted one the same. It is king sized – about 107 inches by 111 inches. The design is circles and spirals covering the entire quilt. The off white thread blended well with the background. It was too big to get a photo of the whole quilt, so all I have is this one when it was still on the frame.
This photo shows a part of a log cabin quilt made by Kathleen Bissett (www.kathleenbissett.com) as a teaching sample.
Taking the lead from the fabric, we selected an small scale overall snowflake design. The design is called Snowflake Simple by Anne Bright. The thread is Glide in a mushroom/mauve colour. Glide has a nice shine which gives an unexpected spark to the quilting.
I don’t have an overall photo of this quilt, so I will try to remember to take one when Kathy brings it to Show and Tell at the next guild meeting.
This string scrappy quilt was a work in progress for Barbara, despite her cataracts. She did a great job on this quilt! True and square, just the way I like them! The quilting design was an edge to edge pattern called Anne’s Garden by Anne Bright.
I also made and applied the pieced binding. Barbara will hand stitch the binding to the back to finish it off. The quilt looks wonderful!
This is a sampler quilt made by Kathleen Bissett, well-known Canadian quilt teacher and judge (www.kathleenbissett.com). These are all teaching samples that she put together to make a cohesive quilt. Kathy says she is trying to clean up her quilt studio and finish all the small things into quilts. The colours and fabrics give it a Christmas theme, almost. I used a design that is slightly Christmas themed too. It is Christmas Paisley by Anne Bright. The thread is YLI variegated “Harvest”. It surprised me how well it worked on this quilt.
This photo shows more detail of the quilt design.
